Lorient has lost two of its most talented players this season. Djibril Bangoura, a 24-year-old forward, and Pierre Lavenant, a 30-year-old midfielder, have signed with Girondins de Bordeaux for the next season. The two players were formed in the youth teams of US Saint-Malo and then joined the FC Lorient youth academy. They then played in National 2 and National 1 clubs before joining Girondins de Bordeaux. Girondins de Bordeaux have failed to reach the third tier of French football twice, but they will be among the contenders for promotion to Ligue 3 next season. Girondins de Bordeaux will play in the West group of the rebranded National 1 division, where US Saint-Malo, Stade Briochin, Dinan Léhon, Saint-Co Locminé, and FC Lorient's reserve team will also be competing.
